Munna Michael Has MJ crying in his grave...

150 Minutes and Rupees Of My Life I Will Never See Again…

Let’s start with what I think… You may term it as “Too Far Stretched An Imagination”

Nawazuddin owes money to Jackie or Ayesha Shroff!

There is no other logical reason I see for an actor like Nawazuddin, to take up a project like MUNNA MICHAEL.

The Movie has it all… Comedy, Drama, Action, Dance, Music, Love Story, Villain, Romance, Revenge… And to top it, some good actors!

Unfortunately, the pro is also the con for the movie.

The Director Sabbir Khan seems to be confused with what actually he wanted to make!

Film making is to a director, what cooking is to a chef. One ingredient here or there and the end product is not what we wanted.

Sabbir here had too many ingredients, in the wrong quantities, at the wrong time… On high flame!

One question that I had in mind throughout the movie (apart from “WHY AM I WATCHING THIS”?), was why is there a connection to Michael Jackson?

There are many instances in the length of the movie where Tiger and his father (Ronit Roy) refer to "Michael is forever".

If Michael ever saw what he is being associated with here, he would have probably died again. A suicide this time around.

Moving on to the performances…

Ronit Roy, who has given some solid performances in flicks like Udaan, Ugly, Kaabil etc somehow makes a mistake here. Now, we know he was a choreographer in his time and was probably a MJ fan. But if you really are a MJ fan, you have to do justice to his name.

Ronit faulters as a background dancer who finds the cub… I mean baby TIGER… in the dumps one night and brings him up single-handedly.

The female lead Nidhi Aggarwal probably is a good dancer…

That’s her only qualification that was required to be a part of the project. Well she does act a bit in a couple of scenes… But that’s just because she is reacting to Nawazuddin!

Now comes the biggest casting failure… Pankaj Tripathy! Yes, SULTAN… The dreaded butcher from Anurag Kashyap’s classic, Gangs of Wasseypur.

Sabbir completely wastes him in the movie. You cannot just take such good actors and turn them into a joke on screen. Not worth it!

Nazwuddin and Pankaj are brothers in the movie! The last they shared screen in Gangs of Wasseypur, we all know what the result was. But both the actors have made a bad choice of project this time.

In case of Tiger, probably his parents have to now understand that if only a good physique and dancing skills is what is required in Bollywood, Uday Chopra would have been ruling Bollywood.

Tiger still has a long way to go when it comes to acting.

As an actor, he is not engaging enough for the viewer. As a viewer, we are left in complete dismay. His dancing skills are really good. His physique, great (apart from the misplaced abs). He is probably putting in a lot of honest effort too.

But like most star kids, the comparison to their fathers is what pulls them down. Tiger has too big shoes to fill in. Jackie dada has been an eternal charmer!

Tiger has to work very hard to become his audience’s “BIDU”

The only thing worth watching in the movie is without a second thought Nawazuddin Siddiqui!

There is no doubt about his acting prowess! He excels in all scenes that are given to him.

As a Haryanvi Don from Gurgaon, he does complete justice to the role.
Unfortunately, there are no other factors that support him!

Given that the movie was pitched as a tribute to MJ, the music did not live up to its expectations. Tanishq Bagchi and Meet bros have let us down.

Editing is amiss. Manan Sagar has not done a good job! Probably because the directors plan was to put in too much in too little time (Remember, lot of ingredients??)

The story line of the movie is not a new one. The HERO and the Villian, both fall for the same girl! That’s it…

Anyone who has seen Bollywood movies will know that what fills the 150 min running length of the movie.

All in all, the movie is just not worth the time and money you will send. We rate it 1.5 / 5

Which brings be back to where I took off from…

That’s 150 Minutes and Rupees Of My Life I Will Never See Again…
